Sign in to Adobe and identify the exact plan type before clicking through cancellation. Under Adobe's current US terms, an annual plan paid monthly can charge 50% of the remaining contract balance after 14 days. Month-to-month and annual-prepaid plans have different refund and access rules. Save the displayed quote.
“Paid monthly” does not necessarily mean “month-to-month.” Adobe sells annual commitments billed in monthly installments, and that distinction determines the early cancellation charge.
Identify the exact plan type
Sign in at Adobe, open Plans and payment, and read the plan card and order details. Look for one of these:
- Annual plan, paid monthly
- Annual plan, prepaid
- Month-to-month plan
Also record the purchase/renewal date, current monthly price, next billing date, and the account email. Do not rely on the amount appearing monthly on a credit card statement.
Annual plan, paid monthly
Adobe’s current US terms state that after the first 14 days, canceling an annual plan paid monthly can result in an early termination fee equal to 50% of the remaining contract balance. Service continues until the end of that month’s billing period under the stated terms.
Example: if three monthly installments remain, the fee calculation uses half of those remaining charges—not half of the amount already paid. Taxes, discounts, bundles, and the price displayed in your account can change the actual quote.
Use the cancellation screen’s exact amount as authoritative for your account.
Annual prepaid and month-to-month plans
These plans follow different rules. An annual prepaid plan may not receive a refund after the initial refund window, while a month-to-month plan generally does not have an annual early termination balance. Access and refund timing still depend on the current terms and cancellation date.
Read Adobe’s terms for the US and the on-screen cancellation summary before confirming. Terms for business, teams, schools, app stores, and other countries can differ.
Check the 14-day window carefully
Adobe’s US page describes refund treatment within 14 days for eligible direct purchases. Determine whether the 14 days run from the initial order or a specific renewal shown in the account; do not assume every monthly payment starts a new refund window.
If a reseller or app store billed the plan, use that seller’s cancellation policy.
Preserve the cancellation quote
Before the final confirmation:
- take a screenshot of the plan type
- save the fee and access-end date displayed
- note any offer to change plans and its new commitment
- read whether cloud storage or files will be affected
- download important files and invoices
Changing plans can start new terms or billing. Do not switch plans solely as a supposed fee workaround unless the confirmation clearly states the total cost and commitment you accept.
After canceling, save the confirmation email and verify that the Adobe account shows the expected end date.
If the fee looks wrong
Do not complete a cancellation you do not understand. Contact Adobe from the signed-in account and ask it to identify:
- plan type and original agreement date
- remaining commitment
- fee calculation
- refund eligibility
- service end date

Frequently asked questions
Why is there a fee if Adobe bills me monthly?
You may have an annual plan paid in monthly installments, not a month-to-month plan.
How does Adobe calculate the fee?
For a US annual plan paid monthly after 14 days, Adobe currently states 50% of the remaining contract balance. Check the account’s actual quote.
Does every Adobe plan have this fee?
No. Annual prepaid and month-to-month plans have different cancellation and refund rules.
Does each monthly charge create a new 14-day window?
Do not assume so. Check the original order or renewal terms and ask Adobe about the date shown for your agreement.
Should I change plans to avoid the fee?
Only if the new plan’s confirmation clearly gives a better total cost and you accept its new terms. A plan change can create another commitment.
